Ransom Frank Batten
Ransom
Frank Batten (second from right on back row), tenth child of Ransom Batten and
Elizabeth Parrish Batten, was born 23 September 1887. He married Minnie Rogers
on 23 December 1909. Her birthday was 30 May 1893.
Frank and Minnie lived their entire lives in Micro Township of Johnston County, North Carolina. They lived on the land inherited from his father Ransom Batten, and grandfather Pleasant Batten. He was a very successful farmer.
He and his wife were members of Parrish Memorial Baptist Church, and in later years moved their membership to the Micro Missionary Baptist Church. There he was a faithful and loyal church member. He loved children and was faithful to provide his services and his car for transportation in order that ways be provided to Sunday School, Vacation bible School, and any other church or school activity.
Frank
died 18 March 1949, while Minnie died on 20 June 1956. Both are buried in the
Batten Cemetery located about one mile west of Micro on Pittman Road. During their marriage they had seven
children: Molissia (1910-1912), Thurman Pleasant (1915-1994), Leland Eugene
(1917-1997), Russell Hoffer (1919-1982), Lemma Estelle (1921- ) (in Ransom's lap
at right), Lebert Franklin (1926- ), and Mary Rogers (Peggy) (1930- ).
